why i don't blog anymore

1. I have been too busy playing with my new sewing machine. Ok, so maybe I don't play that much, but I have been having fun designing my first quilt. I worked on it this last week and am happy with my progress thus far. I finally finished my 40 quilting squares and now the real fun begins...putting it together. Here are the first two rows:
I am no professional and have NO IDEA what I am doing, but I think it's going well so far and think it will be super cute when it is done. Picture 8 rows like the one pictured above, with a 6 inch (or so) brown border around the edges, and that is what the quilt will look like. I will post more when I get a desire to sew again and have something more exciting to show.

2. I have been very busy being a housekeeper. Well, perhaps this is a lie too. I need to do more around the house, but have had fun working with/watching my dad make some repairs around the house. I had a leak in my roof quite a while ago that caused water damage in my kitchen wall. My adorable father got rid of the nasty wall damage and now you would never know I even had a problem. But perhaps my favorite thing he did was remove the horrible backsplash the previous owner had put up behind the stove. I am pretty sure the previous owner thought he was an interior decorator, but his work was atrocious. I had this hideous rock wall complete with rust colored grout behind my stove, but now I have a nice, clean, plain wall behind the stove. It makes me a very happy woman. Thanks dad!!!

So...here's where my housekeeping comes in. I got home the other day and stumbled upon this scene:

What the heck right? I was quite upset and/or holding back the gag reflex. It looked like my sink was full of vomit. I still don't know what the heck was in the sink, but with some coaching from my father I was able to unclog this lovely mess. No more comments about this one...

3. Work. It's not been my favorite. I have been pretty busy at work and just want to crawl into a hole and sleep when I get home. But things are getting better and the craziness is calming down. I did get a happy little surprise at work the other day. My once barren office got some decorations...an entire garden of flowers (or a cemetery according to one co-worker). Thanks Mona for making my office more exciting:

4. My life. I don't have one anymore. I don't see my friends anymore, or atleast not as often as I used to. And when I do hang out with people, I don't feel the need to take pictures. It has just been the last week or two that I have actually had plans with people. The month of January sucked a little, but February is good so far. I did actually take one picture when some friends got together for dinner. There was a child seated near us that had a major mullet. I had my friend pretend to pose for a picture but I really took a picture of this poor child:Of course the kid looked right at me when I took the picture. Oh well. It wasn't until we were finished eating dinner that we realized the child was probably a girl with a terrible haircut and not a boy with an awesome mullet. A bit of a let down, but it still made my night. Thanks poor/cute-ish kid!
5. I am lazy. Enough said.
