the BIG reveal

Happy Halloween my blogging friends! I know you have all been dying to see my Halloween costume since I mentioned how embarrassed I was to wear/reveal it. Without further ado, here is my pink Halloween costume:
That's right...I am a gigantic woopie cushion! Embarrassing right?? Well, on Monday my Branch had a little Halloween party and I sported this beauty. I got some strange looks, but overall people enjoyed the costume. But they were mostly taken back when I would walk past them and push the button on my fart machine. Classic! Here are a few more pics of me and my friends/Branch members at the party:

my roomie Lori (no, I do not lock her in her room)
my cute friend Janalee as Cleopatra
all of us together
Cheshire Cat (aka Marcy)
soccer ball head boy (aka Danny)
just another picture of me being smashed by a cat (a horrible way to die if I must say so myself)

Here's to hoping I win a prize for my awesome costume at our work party!!!

random october things

For a while now I have been intending to blog about some things, but just haven't taken the time to do so. This post is dedicated to all the random happenings related to my 2nd favorite holiday: Halloween. First of all, I got some really cute pumpkin holders a while ago (you may have seen them in my crafty post mentioned back in Septemberish...same post as the unfinished snowman post mentioned two posts ago {clear as mud}). Anyway, I thought it would be fun to buy some pumpkins to embellish the pumpkin holders. I went to my fave on-a-budget store {Walmart} and purchased two beauties. I got out the paint and put some my-kindergartener-painted-these faces on them. Here is the first one I did:

Hey, I don't claim to have artistic skills...
So the other day I walked out to my front porch to check out my masterpieces...and this is what I found:
I thought to myself, "What freaking jerk came over here and threw my pumpkin on the ground? I don't recall doing anything to harm a neighbor. Why me??" But upon further investigation, I found the truth. I was not the helpless victim of pumpkin bashing, I was the victim of a Walmart-sells-crappy-pumpkins scheme and the pumpkin had fallen off of it's holder because it was rotted and mildewed. YUM!!!
So, the pumpkin sat in it's fallen out guts for a few days until it started to smell, and then I finally threw it away. Now I only have one "live" pumpkin, an empty pumpkin holder and permanent pumpkin guts gracing the presence of my visitors. Such is life...

And secondly, I got myself some Halloween toes earlier in the month. I didn't want anything too Halloweenish, just something that looked kind of neutral from afar and Halloweenish on closer inspection. This is what I got:
The toes are dark purple and the big toe contains a silvery spider web complete with silver
spider (and red jewel to make it black widow-like...which I don't love). Pretty exciting.

Now, this last random item has nothing to do with Halloween, but it makes my heart sing almost as much as Halloween does. I got myself some new shoes:

{TRUE LOVE}
P.S. I really love creating phrases with dashes in between the words...in case you didn't notice

It's official...

I voted today! Actually, I voted for the FIRST TIME in my life today! What an exciting thing right? Not really...
I am not so much into politics. I don't understand a lot of it...mostly because I am naturally blonde and don't take the time to educate myself. {Speaking of naturally blonde, how upsetting is it that my hair is not dark anymore?! It has only been a few weeks, and already my hair is very faded. ARGH!!!} Anywho, I am very worried about the future of my country. And I know that my tiny little vote will have no impact whatsoever. But atleast I can now say that I have voted...

{Happy 1 week left until the election}

Ooooh...crafty

Remember this post? Well, for a while now I have been feeling extra crafty, but more importantly I have been feeling holiday crafty. I bought this snowman to paint for Christmas and have slowly been adding to it. I finished it yesterday and promised in my previously mentioned post that I would show you the results when it was completed. So here it is...my before and after:

What do you think??
I also recently mentioned that I have been stressing about Enrichment lately {as I am the Branch Enrichment Leader}. I had my first activity last week and think it turned out pretty well...{Let's just chalk that one up to a success!}. However, last week was not the activity I have been stressing about the most. Next month we will be focusing on holiday craft ideas and it will be one of our bigger activities. I have decided that we will be making glass blocks after getting a cute idea from my roomie's sis-in-law. So, with the help of my amazing friend, I was able to come up with this:
With the exception of the camera lighting, they are pretty cute right?
Since our activity is later on in November and we have Stake Conference next week, I had to make the announcement today at church so I could get a count of who wanted what and give them time to pay me for them. But silly me couldn't bear to send around a sign up sheet without a cute little something to put that sign up sheet on. So this is what I came up with:
It is a sickness my friends...
But wait...the craftiness does not stop there! I also had my cute friend send me some more vinyl just so I could do a little somethin' somethin' for myself. Check it out:
Oh vinyl, where would I be without thee??
Thanks Jess for helping me. You rock!!!

disheartening

So, there was this boy that I was totally in love with in high school. He was so darn cute and such a good boy...strong in the church, preparing for a mission, going to BYU...all the things a good little Mormon boy does {unless you are anti-BYU or anti-goodie-goodies}. My friends and I would drive by his house all the time and I would yell out the window {unless someone was outside}. But, of course, this boy didn't really know that I existed. Yes, we had some classes together, he did know my name and would say hi to me, but we weren't really close. Well, I think I have mentioned that I recently got into Facebook {which I still don't love and don't take the time to update like I do my bloggity blog} and I stumbled upon his profile on one of my friend's lists. I clicked that I wanted to send him a friend invitation and was kind of nervous after doing so 'cause I thought for sure he'd be married and wouldn't even remember me. The truth is, I had forgotten that I had sent the friend request, until a little while ago when I noticed in my email that he had accepted my invitation. Yes!!! I would get to know, once and for all if he was married, what he looks like now, if there was a chance I could convince him that I am his girl, etc...

To make a long story short, he likes boys. I don't know when he discovered this, but it seriously broke my heart! I guess I should have known...

And the best part is that I checked out his friend list and there is a boy on there from Nauvoo that I somewhat knew and that swings for the other team too! What a small, very complicated world...

a brush with fame

Work was very eventful yesterday. About a year or two ago there was a movie that was being filmed next to my workplace called "The Kingdom". The movie starred Jennifer Garner and I, along with some of my co-workers, actually got to see her (others saw Ben Affleck...I did not). At the time I didn't ever carry my camera around like I do now, so I never got any proof of this exciting event. However, yesterday another movie was being filmed next to my work again (mind you, we moved to a new location since the last filming...so these people seriously follow us around just to shoot movies). This movie will be called "Middle Men" and stars Luke Wilson. It is apparently a movie about an average guy who decides to try his luck in the porn business. Classic right? So I got out the camera to document some of the fun that took place outside my office window (don't mind the blinds in every picture):

The "Star Waggons" parked in front of my window. Didn't see any stars coming out of them...
The camera man
Some random men who liked to hang out by the window, smoking pack after pack of cigarettes
Just some of the slutty girls I saw
I can only assume this guy is a pimp
More sluts
Mmmm...DADDY!!!
Does this extremely skimpy outfit make my chest look big?The wardrobe off set (notice the french maid costume)

And those are just some of the pictures I took. At the end of the day my co-worker Lisa and I decided to approach the wardrobe trailer. Lisa bravely asked if we could just come on in, and they let us! So I got to see some of the behind the scenes fun that goes along with making a movie. It was exciting!

So besides the half naked men, half naked women and trailers lining the street, that is the extent of my brush with fame. No Luke Wilson...

all for a good cause

first of all, my talk went really well on sunday...thanks for asking.

secondly, i did have a great weekend. saturday was a super busy day filled with lots of walking {which is a good thing}. i started the morning at the butt crack of dawn and headed to the phoenix zoo {majorly exciting zoo...she says with a sarcastic tone} for the zoo walk benefiting autism research. my daddy's work sponsored our little group {luke's crew} so we all got these stylish matching shirts to sport while walking. good times indeed. to reiterate just how early it was that i was awake and walking, not many of the animals were even out and about. yep...early! but there is nothing more fun than spending time with the nephews. it's so fun to see how excited they get when seeing the animals...especially jake. so cute!!

saturday afternoon i took myself a short little nap. nice!

then saturday night the parentals and i met up again at tempe town lake to do the light the night walk, benefiting the leukemia and lymphoma society {in honor of my bro matt}. we got some yummy texas roadhouse bbq {yep, not having much success on the diet} and all sorts of other freebies. the walk itself was a delightful 2 mile trudge that made me a little bit sweaty {especially when walking next to the lake}. but proudly, i made it {which is saying something because i nearly died the first year i did the walk}. it was a huge success and i was glad to be a part of it.

so there you have it...my weekend in a nutshell. enjoy some pictures from the events:

{Apparently my slide show is having some issues posting...so if you want to see my pictures, just click here}

and also for a good cause, i have added two gadgets to my blog {over there to the right}. i added adsense and also the followers thing. so, if you love me and like to follow my blog, let the world know that you blog stalk me by clicking on that little link. and if you love me even more, learn about what happens when you view an ad (because i can't tell you to do so). i told you it was all for a good cause...

{peace out friends}

Obsessed

I have a new obsession. Ok, so it is not necessarily something that is new...I have been doing it for as long as I can remember. But just in the last 24 hours, I have done this thing about 5 times. What is this thing you ask? I am a list making freak! I love lists. I love being able to check off things when I complete them. Is anyone else out there like me?

Just for fun, this is what my list looks like today:

Wednesday:
*enrichment reminder calls
*lunch:
-cashiers check
-Home Depot (blocks x2)
*dinner: make fajitas
*enrichment:
-set up tables
-refreshments
-white paper + markers
-sign w/instructions (tape)
Thursday: Pepe + TV
Friday: VT + vinyl (ribbon shopping) + sign up sheet
Saturday:
*oil & lube
*reminder to Daja (handout)
*Pepito
*something fun

Interesting reading right? If you must know, there is actually a book out there called "To-Do Lists" or something similar to that, and it explains what you can learn about people by looking at the lists they make. I wonder what my list says about me?

Even if you don't want my insight, I am going to give it to you. My list says that I am a girl who tends to be a little forgetful unless something is written down. I have a calling as the enrichment leader in my branch and I have my first enrichment activity today. I stress about forgetting something and want things to be perfect. I have issues with delegating and feel like it will only be done right if I do it myself. Is this what you gathered from reading my list?

{say it with me: OCD}

Hey, I'm single!

Can I just tell you how much I am enjoying single life right now? Not that I am so much loving being old and single (yes, I’m a little bitter) but that I am loving the freedom that comes with it. I find it exciting that I can go to a concert if I want to. I don’t have to ask my significant other if it is ok. I don’t have to find a babysitter. I can go hang out with the girls if I want to. I think that’s exciting!

Ok, so the rest of singlehood sucks rocks. And the fact that I am very much single sucks even more rocks. Outside of my two concerts, I have no life. But that’s ok. I know I am cool and that is really all that matters…

I have a fun weekend ahead. Saturday is the Zoo Walk (to benefit the Autism Foundation) and also the Light the Night Walk (to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). Then Sunday I get the wonderful opportunity of talking in church {YIKES!!} on the law of the fast. That should be interesting…

{Happy Weekend}

Another one?

Well, I guess I am going to Phooson by myself. No one in Arizona wants to go with me... Actually that is not true. My good pal Joey and my good pal Janalee both said they would go. Hooray!

But you want to know what is even better? I am going to this concert too:

Yeah baby!!! I can't wait! Here's to hoping the tickets don't cost a fortune! Anyone else that is interested (besides Janalee) let me know (tickets go on sale tomorrow also). They are coming to Dodge Theater November 21st.

{Mmmm....Backstreet!}

You would think I would be over them already...

PHOOSON

Yes, it is a word (according to my fave radio show boys JohnJay and Rich on 104.7 KISS FM).

Phoenix + Tucson = Phooson

Last year I had the privilege of going to the first ever Phooson concert production with my good pal Pepe. We got to see Enrique Iglesias and others in concert, and even got to have fun at the amusement park on site. Good times indeed. Then this morning my radio boys announced Phooson #2 coming December 5th to Cricket Wireless Pavilion and featuring the goodness of folks like: Rhianna, Fall Out Boy, Jesse McCartney, the Pussy Cat Dolls and Katy Perry. So this is my question to all of my fellow Arizonans: who wants to go with me??

oooh...SASSY!!

Well folks, I did it. I took the plunge again. I am now officially a brunette (this time minus the red). So just for fun I took out the camera and got some before and after pictures. Here is my hair before:

If I look like I am mad in the pictures, it's because I am. Who wouldn't be mad if their hair looked this atrocious?
Sadly, the camera snapping didn't stop there. I was really tired last night, and that only leads to trouble. Here are some more pics to document my fun:
ohhh...sexy!
sing it sister! {wink}
And then, the bandanna came out. Oh, shoot me now!
Aunt Jemima
Charlene wannabe or biker chic (not sure which one yet)
Pioneer woman or woman suffering from a toothache
Cowgirl
Camp Counselor bandanna sportin' freak
What I should have done the moment the bandanna came out...
And then, it was off to bed to get my beauty rest for my makeover the next day. Are you ready to see the results? Here they are (a picture from every angle):
I think I look like a brown haired Alayna...
{What do you think?}
