near death experience (pt 2)

This morning was part 2 of boot camp with cutie Sione and his mean trainer Ryan Jordan. Instead of having separate groups for beginners and advanced people, they decided to join us all together for one big butt kicking. And let me tell you...it was rough. Nothing beginner about it! Again, I wanted to die several times. This is how I felt during the workout:
As cute as he is, I really wanted to hurt him. (Oh, and just so you know, if you want to really hit someone hard it helps to put your hand on your hip first...)

The work out sucked, but again at the end I felt exhilarated. And it wasn't just because the workout was over, it was because I got to put my arms around Sione and take my picture with him:

Pardon the red face and sweatiness...I was a little bit tired. But who wouldn't be after getting a whooping for one hour?

And finally, I grabbed a few shots while other people were taking their pictures, because I wanted some more pictures to document the hottie-ness of my trainers:

Ryan Jordan may be mean, but I wouldn't mind if he put his arms around me...

...and you all know how I feel about this man...

{I made it!!!}

my near death experience

Ok, so maybe the title is a little dramatic, and maybe after reading my post you will be more jealous than you will be sympathetic, but I am pretty sure I had a near death experience this morning. It all really started on Saturday when my pal Joey called me to rub in my face that she was going to boot camp on Monday and Wednesday morning with none other than my fave boy from the Biggest Loser, Sione. That's right, the sexy Tongan is trying to promote good health and exercise, and using his fame to his advantage. I immediately wanted to sign up for boot camp, but the price was a little much for someone with my financial status. I talked to my pal Sarah who convinced me that I was crazy not go because she knew how much I love Sione and compared him to a musician that I would pay to see in concert. So, I signed up. All weekend long I have been super excited with a side of sheer terror. I have never done boot camp before and could only imagine the torture I would be putting myself through. Is it really worth it? Am I going to live to tell of my experience? Of course it is worth it if it means spending time with the world's sexiest man!

Because the boot camp was in Gilbert, I had a sleep over at my mom's house last night. I had to wake up at 4:15 this morning to arrive at the park by 4:35am. Honestly I was the first person there, besides Sione and the other trainer, but because I was scared I kept driving and waited a few more minutes for others to arrive. I missed out on quality alone time I know...I am such a freak! But once I got there he came right up to me and shook my hand. I expressed my fear and he told me not to be scared. Let me just tell you that he is even sexier in person, and then when you smell his cologne...oh. my. gosh! I could have taken him right there and then in the parking lot (sorry mom...). He told stories about his Biggest Loser experience while we waited for others to arrive. Then they broke us into groups, beginner and advanced. No question, I opted for the beginner course. Lucky for me, Sione happened to be the trainer for the beginners. To make a long story short, he kicked my @!*% and I seriously thought I would die a few times. He was too nice to be a mean trainer, but at the same time tried really hard to push us. Yep, he succeeded. I don't really want to go into the details of the workout, but it was intense, yet I felt so invigorated when it was over. Now I am at work and feeling exhausted beyond words, and my body feels a bit weak. But the events of this morning have really inspired me to make some changes in my life to be a healthier person. I know I am capable of much more at the gym, and I know I can make better food choices. So for that I have to thank Sione. It was a fun experience and I can't wait to see what Wednesday holds.

P.S. Check back Wednesday as Sione has promised time for pictures!

legs and toes

Remember this lovely treasure I picked up in St. Thomas?

Well, I never really noticed until the other day that the event I will forever choose to forget will always be visible on my leg.

A sad reminder of an unfortunate accident. The scar is pretty long and wraps around my leg, but the weird part is that the skin underneath is pretty much rock hard. Do you think it's too late to try scar cream?
Moving on to happier news, I have a new obsession! I love, love, love toe rings:

I can't get enough of them these days! I just think they add so much to a foot, don't you? Ignore the chipped toe nail polish and my sad attempt to paint my own toe nails to make people believe that I can afford to get a pedicure...
Speaking of pedicures, I am loving my Friday's off because I get to spend some quality time with my mom. That time is usually spent shopping for things she wants, but she usually makes me dinner or something so I don't mind tagging along. Well, today she decided she wanted to get a pedicure before she makes her way up to Utah, so I definitely wanted to tag along this time. We tried out a new place that we have heard people rave about...and I really enjoyed it. Same prices as everywhere else, but extremely long massages followed by hot rock massages won me over. Besides, they had some really cute nail designs to choose from. I took the simple route and just had my big toes designed, but I think they are pretty cute. What do you think?

If you can't tell, there are stars on my big toes. I am kind of going through a star phase the last week... Not sure what it is, but I just like them.
{Have a great weekend}

8

Today is my first and only niece's 8th birthday. I can't believe it! She cannot be that old! I seriously just love her to pieces and I am so proud to be her aunt. I was there the day she was born and we have shared many a happy moment together since then. I think she is adorable! She is a great helper, an amazing dancer, a fantastic Wii player, she has a hilarious laugh and the best sense of humor! She is my favorite niece (and I can say that because she is my only niece). Sadly, I don't have many pictures of her on this computer, so here are just a few of my favorites:

{Happy Birthday Kensie}
P.S. Utah friends: I will be in town May 28-31st for my niece's baptism. Anyone wanna hang out??

Fiesta Fun

So I have been a little busy since my party and haven't posted about it yet. In fact, I just barely cleaned up the mess this morning. However, I must say that I chalk this one up to the most successful party I have had to date. I believe we had about 17 people in attendance and I also believe that people enjoyed themselves. Maybe the party wasn't as outrageous as I had anticipated, but it was still a good time. We had some awesome decorations, great Mexican food and even a separate room (thanks to the fact that I am roommate-less) for photos and treats. Here are some pics from the event (I must warn you that the pictures did not turn out that great, so very few a being posted. And besides, I didn't really take that many pictures...):

DECORATIONS (streamers, Mexican flag banners, Fiesta cut-outs depicting all things Cinco de Mayo, and even cut outs of actual Mexican folk graced our presence):

THE FOOD (tacos, tostadas, taco bites, beans and rice, chips and salsa and even non-alcoholic beverages served in colorful Martini glasses):
THE PINATA (sadly, after just one hit to the authentic, colorful donkey pinata his little attachment device {not sure what you call that thing} fell off, so we had to hang him by his ear. Shortly thereafter he was decapitated. Rough day for the cute little thing...):
Mmm...real Mexican candy...complete with spicy hot tamarindo. YUM!!!
SOME MORE OF THE FUN (including people segregating themselves to play silly named card games {namely Sarah, Kenny and Danny} followed by a crazy {sometimes dirty} rendition of Catch Phrase):

AND FINALLY, THE PHOTO OP (two chairs in front of plastic Mexican dancers and singers with one sombrero...this is bound to be fun right? Throw down a couple of non-alcholic drinks and this is what you get):
As I mentioned before, some of the pictures didn't turn out that great. But I hope you have enjoyed the ones posted. And for fear of blackmail, none of the pictures of me from the photo op have been included. Don't even ask...

Cinco de Mayo

It is that blessed time of year, when Americans find yet another excuse to have a party...cinco de Mayo (the 5th of May). Honestly, I work with a lot of Mexican natives here in my place of business, and none of them celebrate this day. So why do we do it? I have no idea. But that won't stop me from celebrating. That's right...a cinco de Mayo party is definitely in the works! Mexican food, pinata bashing, Spanish music and all sorts of other craziness are necessary. Anyone else having a cinco de Mayo party? Check back later this week for pictures from my outrageous fiesta. It is bound to be a good time (I hope).
